Semi Final Loss at 2006 Nationals

2006 saw another UKUA tournament in sunny Mansfield. We just can’t seem to get enough of the place. After the disappointment of an entire season with no Semi Finals a positive and upbeat Chevron started Nationals 2006 with confidence.

For the entire season a small squad size has been an ongoing problem and with 12 players again at Nationals, seemed to be a factor again. However the straight knock out format of nationals with easy games to start the tournament seemed to favour a smaller squad and Chevron entered the quarter final against Leeds Leeds Leeds with fresher legs than result from a day of peer pools.

This lead to an excellent and well deserved victory and the promise of a Semi-Final match up against newly crowned Tour champions – Clapham on Sunday morning. Despite periods of excellent play Clapham ran out victors and went on to win the tournament beating Fire of London in the final.
