Ginger "Racism" Creating Rift

Tuesday 03 July 2007

Over the last 24 hours insiders have reported an increasing rift forming within the Chevron camp over alleged ginger abuse after this weekends training session in Bristol.

Several Chevron players were born, through no fault of their own, with rogue ginger genes. For years, through aggressive shaving regimes, they have remained unnoticed, drifting through life hoping not to get caught without a razor for more than a couple of days.

After a week long holiday last year Chevron player and ginger activist Dave Barnard refused to hide in the shadows any longer and has remained unshaven ever since. One player commented in January 2007 that it "took a bit of getting used to; having a ginger in the team." He continued "I hear he has a ginger girlfriend too. I hope they don’t breed. Just think of the poor children."

Even in this modern society acceptance of basic superficial differences can still be difficult for some traditionalists.

After months of getting used to playing with Barnard and beard, ripples were again sent through the Chevron squad after handler William Cornelius turned up with what one onlooker described as "barely more than a 5 o'clock shadow". The small blonde bombshell, popular with the ladies, showed he had more than just blonde in him as obvious orange patches glinted in the bright summer sunshine.

Whispers of "copper chin" and "fire face" could be heard on the sidelines causing the two gingers to separate themselves from the rest of the team.

In a statement on Monday, newly outted ginger, Caesar, said that the worst thing about the whole incident was when one player asked mockingly "does the carpet match the wallpaper?" but he insisted rumours of a rift were greatly exaggerated. "We can accept them, so they can accept us" before breaking down he ending by saying "We're all just looking forward to Tour 2, together, as one, with love in our hearts, hair on our chins and smiles on our faces."
