On Monday Chevron players across the UK spoke up after hearing of the Mixed Indoor Nationals victory by Chevron based team, BOB, this weekend.
As news came through of the victory Chevron squad members were frantically finding alibis and witnesses to prove they were not playing indoor Ultimate.
Matt Beavan was quoted as saying "I have a stamp in my passport proving I was not even in the country, so don't look at me." However due to his known love of no wind, no skill Ultimate it is strongly suspected he was part of the winning line-up.
The mixed indoor event took place at Manchester Met university sports complex with the usual array of teams competing. Eye witnesses reported that Stu Mitchell, who has been away from the indoor scene for some time, maintained his reputation as a consummate professional by not only winning MVP for the final but also warming up in the form of stretching before each game. Dave Pitchler, Chevron player, eye witness, and member of the loosing finalists who were there celebrating Caesars birthday, said "I don't think anyone told him it's not the done thing anymore. I suppose he is getting on a bit so needs to look after himself."
The winning team is rumoured to have been:
Claire Parker-Mitchell
Claerwen Snell
Layne Elson
Isla Grayson
Stu Mitchell
Frank Legg
Dave Grayson
Matt Hodgeson
Matt Beavan
It has been reported that Dave Grayson enjoyed himself far more than he should and that the team was held together by their strong ladies line.
Chevron Mixed captain Matt McLogoblin, when asked about the victory, was reported to have said "It's a great victory for the club, off season Ultimate is important. I wish I could have been there."
